High Speed Modem Access. 112K !!

Need speed and can't get DSL?

*Only available in California.

Dual modem access allows two modems on the same PC to connect to the Internet.  If you have two 56K modems, your connection could approach speeds up to 112 Kbps. zNET's dial-up servers fully support MPP (MultiPoint Protocol) connections. Hardware is available for use with LANs too.

You can use any two analog modems (they do not have to be the same brand or even the same speed) to make an MPP connection. MPP bonds the two modems together over two phone lines into one fast connection, enabling you to get speeds up to 112K, and it works over your regular existing analog phone lines (no costly digital lines required)!

You can get your small office online using MPP too! Dual 56k LAN modem/routers, such as 3Com© OfficeConnect© Dual 56k LAN Modem, have a built in Ethernet hub and router with dual internal modems. Connect your PCs to this small box, plug it into two RJ45 telephone wall jacks, and away you go! 3Com offers a 15 minute installation guarantee. For further details or to purchase the 3Com© OfficeConnect© Dual 56k LAN Modem, go to 3Com's site here.

Compatibility:

Make sure your operating system has the correct software to make an MPP connection.

Windows

The new Microsoft DUN (Dial Up Networking) software will bond the 2 modem connections into a single IP connection. Windows 98 or higher: MPP support is automatically available (just select the "Multilink" tab in your Dial-up Networking window and configure accordingly). If you are using Windows 95, you will need to upgrade your default version of Dialup Networking to support MPP connections.

Microsoft has released the "Dialup-Networking upgrade 1.3" (Aug. 98) for Windows 95. The new release includes support for MPP.

The release-Notes can be viewed in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, article Q154091:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q154/0/91.asp . The upgrade (file: MSDUN13.EXE, 2.24 MByte) can be downloaded from the Microsoft FTP Site: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/mslfiles/msdun13.exe.

Macintosh

Users with System 7.1 or higher can use MPP. You will need third-party software such as LinkUPPP to bond two modems together and make an MPP connection. Unfortunately the software is no longer available for sale new, but you may be able to find a used copy for sale online.

Linux

Linux users can make MPP connections also (Multilink is supported in kernel PPP driver 2.4.1).

Shotgun Support

Many of Diamond Multimedia SupraExpress modems support "Shotgun Technology". Shotgun technology is an enhancement to MPP, which comes available with many of Diamond's Supra modems. Shotgun-enabled modems are very popular for MPP users. They have the additional feature of incoming call detection - the modem "senses" incoming calls or faxes and allows them to ring through on your second phone line, all the while maintaining your internet connection on the first line. Shotgun-enabled modems also support "bandwidth on demand" - automatic disconnection and reconnection of your second phone line based on your real-time bandwidth requirements. zNET's dial-up servers fully support Shotgun-enabled modems. You can find out more information about Diamond's Shotgun-enabled modems, and purchase them online, on Diamond's website.

To sign up, please send an e-mail to sales@znet.com and request MP access  or you can sign up for a new MPP account online!
